You are probably going through a great deal of change right now; it’s a challenging market out there, and changes in legislation and funding are not making life any easier. Your customer base is becoming more diverse and increasingly demanding, no longer satisfied with the same great service on which your reputation was established. Workloads are intensifying, and recruitment ‘freeze’ is common, with no foreseeable light at the end of the tunnel. In addition, whilst there is a real appetite for change in parts of the hierarchy, others may be feeling stuck, disengaged, and actively resisting change. You may be worrying about upsetting certain parts of the workforce. Many staff complain that change is poorly communicated and unfairly implemented, and even some of your own managers are in denial of the need to change. A great deal of cynicism exists around the concept of ‘consultation’, and problems of under-performance, poor conduct and discipline continue to go unchallenged. Staff engagement is on every manager’s agenda, and many of your staff are worrying – to a greater or lesser extent – about their futures.
To lead change effectively, we need to recognise that people are the top priority. You can have world-class facilities, best practice policies and procedures, and leading-edge technology, but it is still your people who actually get the job done. To succeed in business, you need to be able to harness the knowledge and expertise of your entire workforce. And if you don’t have them on side, you will always be limited in what you can achieve as an organisation.
Did you know… According to global research by McKinsey (2005), nearly 80% of change programmes fail to deliver on their full potential; the single biggest reason for this is that managers don’t lead by example. Talk to us; we can help ensure that everyone on the team is rowing in the same direction.
Catapult Consulting Ltd was established in 2005 with the aim of helping to improve attitudes, aptitudes and organisational performance. We operate as an organisational development consultancy providing a carefully tailored approach to implementing change and improving performance. At Catapult, we know that the most engaged staff deliver the best service to your customers. We work with every type of behaviour encountered within organisations, from building powerful, emotionally-literate leadership teams, strategic communication planning and masterclasses to resolve issues of under-performance and conflict. We can help you get to the root of issues such as staff dissatisfaction and high sickness/absence and turnover. We work with senior management teams to support them in communicating difficult change in a high-impact and compelling way. We focus on individual and team strengths and want to help your people do more of what they’re good at, so that you have the best people for the job, and they get to do more of the work they love.
